Quartz is the perfect material for use in the kitchen or bathroom due to its many qualities, but how does this hardy mineral make it from the earth into your new worktop?
Quartz can be found all over the globe, it is an abundant mineral that is found in the Earth's continental crust. This mineral is then quarried and ground into a quartz aggregate before it can be made into a quartz slab.
The quartz aggregate is mixed and blended to create different looks and surfaces. Colours are added and other elements may be combined like metallic flecks or recycled glass. Some quartz surfaces are engineered to look like natural stone such as marble or granite, complete with veining. Others are constructed for a contemporary effect to fit the aesthetic of the homeowner. Once the mix has been completed, the polymer resin is added and the slabs are poured into a mould.
The slabs are then treated with extreme heat and pressure which binds the elements together before being gauged, calibrated, and polished.
Quartz is very strong and highly resistant to heat and weathering. Because of this, it is often used in high use areas like the kitchen or the bathroom. Because Quartz is produced, it is available in hundreds of different colours and combinations.
Quartz is practical and suitable for use throughout the home. It is incredibly durable and highly resistant to scratching, it is non-porous which makes it very hygienic, and it is also crack and chip resistant.
One of the strongest materials available in our range, Quartz can be used practically anywhere. As this product is manufactured, it is available in so many different colours and textures. There is something to suit every home and interior.
Although we can source whatever quartz you prefer, we primarily use a small range of suppliers who offer a great quality product. They are reliable and trustworthy which is why we choose to focus on a select few. All of our suppliers offer our clients the opportunity to make appointments and view full sized slabs at their premises, however, due to the consistent nature of Quartz, many clients make a decision based on swatches of the material.
Once a client has chosen their preferred quartz, we will order this from the supplier. When it arrives, each slab is carefully inspected for imperfections before we get to work. At this point, we are ready to begin crafting your new kitchen or bathroom worktops.
